Context - Aware Advertising for IPTV : Draft Proposal Supervised

چکیده

Problem Definition The invention of IPTV created an opportunity for product and service providers to better target their audience and cater for their needs through recommending advertisements based on user interests and context. Instead of publishing an advertisement to the mass market, it is now possible to select who to watch which advertisement based on the target audience and user interests. This is referred to as behavioral targeting. The opportunity will not only help in better targeting the users, but also increase the viewership of each ad by selecting the ones most relevant to user's context. Helping users receive information on services or products that are more relevant will enhance user's perception of ads and will help providers increase their revenues. To the best knowledge of the author, this opportunity has not been consumed to its full potential yet. This research will capitalize on this opportunity to create a context-aware recommendation engine that recommends advertisements for IPTV systems. The engine will be developed over a scalable architecture and technology that supports near real-time requests.
